Leading Company published a very thought-provoking article advising executives to think carefully before revealing their mental illness at the workplace. Psychologists and career advisers warn the main downside is being treated differently and discriminated against for work opportunities. However if you hide your mental illness the risk is employers will assume you’re an underperformer and won’t be able to offer support. The decision to disclose depends on the business environment you work in and the advice of your mental health practitioner.
