At this time of year we start looking ahead to the New Year and swearing that we’re going to do some things differently next year. There are the usual promises to lose weight and exercise more, but it’s a good idea to think about what you’re going to do differently in your business as well.
We want to hear what you are resolving to do better or differently in your business in 2016. Email us or post on our Facebook page to let us know. You and your company might feature in an upcoming article in Focus or the Advocate.
Meanwhile, here are 5 ideas we’ve come up with.
I will only market to customers that can actually pay for my product.
We see it too often. Clients who invest a huge amount of time and energy on people and companies that won’t pay, or won’t pay what you deserve. Resolve to focus your energies on the customers that value what you do and are willing to pay your for it!
I will meet with customers face to face.
As businesses get bigger it can be tempting for owners to leave sales to the sales team, or resort to email or text for quick communication. Once you lose touch with your customers, you lose touch with your business. So resolve to spend time dealing with your customers face to face.
I will review and understand my financial statements every month.
Obviously this is a big one for us! At the end of the day you are in business to make money and build your wealth. So resolve that you will invest some time and energy every month understanding how you are going financially.
I will make sure my website is the best it can be.
These days a website is a critical business tool. It’s a business card, company flyer, advertising billboard and tool for your customers all wrapped into one. A bad website could be sending people to the competition. So resolve to make sure your website is up to job.
I will schedule down time for myself.
You are the biggest asset your business has. If you are exhausted and irritable it’s going to affect the whole business. So resolve to take breaks regularly this year.
Wishing you and your families a very happy and successful 2016!
