Social media is the buzz in the marketing world. How many followers do you have? What’s your hashtag?
We are accountants so what interests us the most about social media (and should certainly interest you) is how can it help small business to increase sales.
We take a look at 5 strategies for using social media to build your business.
Demonstrate your customer service
Social media lets your customers provide feedback: good and bad. Handled correctly this provides you with a golden opportunity to demonstrate your customer service.
If a customer posts a negative comment or complaint on your page make sure you respond quickly (within at least 12 hours) and resolve the issue rapidly. When a customer posts positive feedback, consider sharing their post.
Do not let negative feedback go without a response. If you do not have the staff to effectively monitor your social media, consider investing in monitoring tools or services.
Increase Your Reach
Facebook and Twitter advertising make it possible to increase your company’s reach through targeted ads and sponsored message. You can spread your message across the world, or focus on small geographic area. Either way you are going to reach potential customers it would be difficult to reach with any other medium.
Listen to Your Customers
Listening to your customers is one of the best ways to improve your offering and customer service. Make listening to your customers on social media a priority! Create search streams for Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to listen when people mention your company.
You can do the same for your competitors, to find out their strengths and weaknesses. Depending on the nature of your business, you might even want to consider reaching out to anyone who posts a negative comment about your competitor.
Promote Your Sales
Use a free social media sharing tool like Hootsuite to schedule regular posts regarding your product deals and promotional campaigns. Be sure to include a hashtag to spread the word beyond your followers.
