In a recent article, Law Central have highlighted the changing nature of Power of Attorney documents. Once purely a financial tool, it is now possible to appoint someone to look after you across a range of circumstances.
Enduring Power of Attorney (EPA)
Enables you to appoint someone to make financial and/or property decision on your behalf – whether you have lost capacity or are simply out of the country.
Enduring Power of Guardianship (EGA)
Enables you to appoint someone to make personal, lifestyle and treatment decisions on your behalf, when you lose ability due to illness or injury.
Advance Health Directives (AHD)
Enables you to set out in a document what medical, surgical, dental or other health care you would or would not want to receive if you are unable to make the decision at the time.
We recommend that all of our clients consider having these sorts of instruments in place. For more information read the full article from Law Central.
